The Churchill

Description

A little over 7 decades ago, just 20km from our shop Winston Churchill, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Charles de Gualle met to decide the Allied strategy of World War II. As usual, Churchill had in his hand one of his monstrous cigars. His favorite length, 7 inches, later came to named after him.

This surfboard shares the large proportions of, and a similar outline to, one of these cigars. The Churchill is the ultimate cruiser, with very little rocker, a flat bottom or spoon nose that gradually transitions to a V-bottom in tail of the board. Full volume rails that taper down to a bit sharper in the tail, so you can push down into your bottom turns. All of this results in a very stable, very surfable longboard for some of our long, mellow points.

Glassing is nice and heavy with a 6oz bottom and 4oz fin patch and at least a 6+4oz deck. Generally, we drop in a single box and a couple boxes for side bites to open up the options, but for the “traditionalists” we are happy to leave just a single fin box.
