Arctic Foam!

They finally came! I just got my first shipment of Arctic Foam last week. The stuff is amazing! I've been shaping for some time now and have used many different types of blanks and i have yet to use a blank that is whiter, stronger, and lighter.

Last Swell of 2012.

More than likely this was the last big swell of 2011/2012. I wasn't sure it would work but we were watching the reports leading up this last trip for about a week. When we finally went south (south of Safi, north of Agadir) the swell was 12' at 14 seconds.

Tis the season!

Yes, tis the season! It's that time of the year when we at surfinginmorocco/kaishapes begin surf lessons. Normally we don't start until late March early April, but this year has been a much warmer and drier winter than normal. For the past 5 years we have worked with a local American school where we provide surf lessons. This year we have 16 kids, ranging from ages 16-18, 3 days a week. The surfing levels of the kids range from no surfing skills to advantced. From the time we start to the time we finish, everyone goes forward with their skill level.

Think outside the box!

Thinking outside the box can cause a few problems. First it goes against "main stream" and in my case against your "normal" cookie cutter board shape. Now when i say "cookie cutter" i'm talking about your standard short board thruster that everybody and their brother has, you know, 5'11" or 6'0" x 18 1/4" x 2 1/2". I'm not saying i don't like those boards, but only when its head high, glassy, and offshore! Now where i live thats only about 15% of the year. And when its that 15% of the year i can only make it out about 10% of the time. So what does that mean?

Horns of a Dilemma.

Before i get started i hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, Happy New Year, and 3 Kings Day! And thanks for all of you who bought a board/boards from us this last year! It was a tough year but we made it and are looking at a great 2012.
